SPEAKERS:

Glenn Lunden, Deputy Chief of Rail Planning, MTA New York City Transit

MTA New York City Transit’s Rail Planning Unit is responsible for the New York City subway system's long-term and short-term temporary service planning. Kevin Gurley’s responsibilities include management of planning studies, ridership and operations analysis, fleeting planning, and customer information signage. For this Brown Bag presentation, Kevin will discuss the Astoria-Broadway Capacity Study. The Astoria-Broadway Capacity Study identified and analyzed key chokepoints throughout numerous interconnected subway B Division lines, and recommended strategies to address these chokepoints. The Study built a rail simulation model of the areas studied, which is now an invaluable tool used by MTA New York City Transit for its planning work.
