Roadway Departure Safety Action Plan –
Local Call for Projects

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) in coordination with the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) is pleased to progress the local call for roadway departure projects included in the New York State Roadway Departure Safety Action Plan (RwDSAP). This local call for projects includes federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds for systemic or “Hot Spot” roadway departure safety projects on local and county roads and streets. Projects would be eligible to receive up to 95% federal HSIP funding. Potential project sponsors are encouraged to review the RwDSAP to enhance their understanding of the program.

Applications must be submitted by close of business on April 17, 2026

Final award decisions are expected to be made by the end of May 2026.

All counties/municipalities are encouraged to submit projects to this
important program.


All Stations Accessibility Program | Federal Transit Administration

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announces the opportunity to apply for $686 million in competitive grants for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP) under Assistance Listing Number 20.533. This is an initial announcement for the FY 2025 and FY 2026 rounds of this program. As required by Federal public transportation law, funds will be awarded competitively for any purpose eligible under Division J of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (Pub. L. 117-58) for capital and planning projects to upgrade the accessibility of legacy rail fixed guideway public transportation systems for people with disabilities.

Safe Streets and Roads for All Funding Opportunity

The U.S. Department of Transportation is offering nearly $1 billion in FY 2026 funding through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to help communities reduce roadway deaths and serious injuries. The program supports planning, demonstration, and implementation of projects that advance a Safe System Approach for all road users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, motorists, and commercial drivers. Eligible applicants include local governments, metropolitan planning organizations, Tribal governments, and multijurisdictional partnerships. Funding is split between Planning and Demonstration Grants and Implementation Grants.
