Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

The federally-mandated Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) identifies and prioritizes federally-funded transportation projects proposed for planning, design and implementation in the NYMTC planning area over a five-year period.

The TIP establishes federal funding eligibility for transportation improvement projects that will strengthen and enhance the transportation system. The TIP includes transit, roadway and bridge, bicycle and pedestrian projects, and other transportation enhancements. The TIP is derived from and consistent with Moving Forward 2055, NYMTC’s long-range Regional Transportation Plan.

The TIP was built collaboratively by NYMTC’s member agencies and is maintained through actions they take in the NYMTC Plan/TIP Visualization Tool as per the NYMTC TIP Revision Procedures. The latest project information is available on the NYMTC Plan 2055/TIP Visualization Tool: https://nymtc.ecointeractive.com/. Using interactive maps, charts, and project data, the tool provides a window into the fiscally constrained TIP and Plan — and offers opportunities for public comment as NYMTC members revise and update projects through the planning and programming process. The current TIP, covering FFYs 2026-2030, was programmed based on funding identified in the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act, adopted by the Council on September 5, 2025, and approved by USDOT.

Title VI Notice to the Public: The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) hereby gives public notice that it is the policy of the Council to assure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, Executive Order 12898 on Environmental Justice, and related statutes and regulations in all programs and activities. Title VI requires, and it is our policy, that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity for which NYMTC receives federal financial assistance. Any person who believes they have been aggrieved by an unlawful discriminatory practice under Title VI has a right to file a formal complaint. Any such complaint must be filed in writing or in person with NYMTC’s Title VI Officer within one hundred eighty (180) days from the date of the alleged discriminatory act or upon notice of the discriminatory act.
