NYMTC Annual Council Meeting

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) held its Annual Council Meeting on February 27, 2025, adopting its 2025-2026 State Fiscal Year Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) and featuring addresses from key government officials who highlighted "Proactive Mobility" and the role of human-powered and small-scale battery-operated vehicles throughout downstate New York. The meeting was held at the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House in Manhattan and was open to the public.

The UPWP defines NYMTC's transportation planning priorities and describes all federally funded transportation-related planning activities anticipated within a given program year. NYMTC members voted unanimously to adopt the UPWP during the annual meeting.

The event's keynote speaker – Ryan Russo, executive director of the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) - addressed the audience, discussing its Urban Bikeway Design Guide, a resource for improving city travel projects.

Program, Finance and Administration Committee (PFAC) Recommends Adoption of 2025-2026 Unified Planning Work Program

On February 13, 2025, NYMTC's Program, Finance and Administration Committee (PFAC) held its regularly scheduled, bi-monthly meeting to report on recent and upcoming NYMTC developments.  The meeting featured a presentation on the State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2025-2026 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) for PFAC's recommendation for Council adoption at their annual meeting. The UPWP is prepared annually to provide funding for NYMTC's core and discretionary activities. The 2025-2026 UPWP proposes $67 million in spending for these activities.

PFAC adopted the following resolutions at the meeting:

  • Resolution #593 – Recommendation of the SFY 2025-2026 Unified Planning Work Program for Council Adoption
  • Resolution #594 – Support of Statewide Targets Under the Federal Transportation Performance Management Requirements
  • Resolution #595 – Amendments to the State Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Unified Planning Work Program
  • Resolution #596 – Amendment to the Resilience Improvement Plan Addendum to the Federal Fiscal Years 2022-2050 Regional Transportation Plan

The next meeting of the Council is scheduled for
Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 11:15 AM.

Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:30 AM.
