Transportation Planning Initiatives in Westchester County
This presentation will focus on Westchester County’s Mobility and Bus Redesign, which is looking to identify strategies to better meet the mobility needs of its residents, given trends of declining bus ridership, the increase in use of transportation network companies, changing demographics and other trends facing the region. The project is using a “blank slate” approach to re-designing transit service from the ground up by objectively reviewing existing transit conditions and determining market needs. The study will result in bus route restructuring and identification of alternative mobility options such as on-demand partnerships or the use of micro-transit. Other Westchester County Transportation Planning initiatives will also be discussed.

Ankita Rathi, AICP, ENV SP,  Planning Consultant at Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning,

Reimagining Transit in Suffolk County: Mobility Implementation Plan & Microtransit Pilot
The presentation will discuss the recommendations of the Suffolk County Mobility Study completed in June 2018, and how they are being advanced through the County’s Reimagine Transit initiative and the Microtransit Pilot project in Southampton. The presentation will discuss the project goals, planning and stakeholder engagement process, and progress made to date on both projects.

Charging Forward! An Evolving Mobility Strategy for Nassau County
The COVID 19 pandemic has ushered in a new paradigm for mobility for live, work and play.  The dynamic changes in mobility demands, preferences and services over the past few years will be evaluated in the upcoming Nassau County Shared-Mobility Management Plan.  The County will strive to address near term and emerging mobility challenges and opportunities, to ensure a strong and equitable pandemic recovery.  Environmental sustainability and awareness is at the forefront of the County’s mobility strategy.  Work is underway to bring the County’s first battery-electric buses into service to provide enhanced transit services to our nodes of innovation.  Highlights of this multi-faceted project will be shared.
