Location W003 is at the southern end of the North County Trailway at Neperan Road (to the west) and Old Saw Mill River Road (to the east) in Mount Pleasant.
The trail in this area runs west of and parallel to the Saw Mill River Parkway. The trail is surrounded by dense forest and, as a plaque indicates, it runs along the corridor of the now defunct Putnam Railroad
(Figure W03-003-1). As shown in Figure W03-003-2, near the southern terminus, the trail splits to an East Branch and a West Branch. The East Branch leads to Old Saw Mill River Road, east of the Saw Mill River Parkway (Figures W03-003-3 through -5). The west branch leads to Neperan Road and the parking lot (W03-003-6 through -8). Neperan Road itself is very scenic and bike friendly to the west. Some riders were seen traveling from this direction to the parking lot.
Present improvements, now provide for direct connection from the North
County Trailway to the South County Trialway to Warehouse Lane. |
