The Bronx - Bx038

Location Bx038 is the Hutchinson River Path at Middletown Road. The path is along the east side of the Hutchinson River Parkway. At the time of the counts, the path was closed, as shown in Figures Bx05-038-1 through -2. Counts were taken at the nearest intersection, the intersection of Hutchinson River Parkway East, Middletown Road, Westchester Avenue, and Ericson Place, a six-legged signalized intersection. Hutchinson River Parkway East makes up the north and one of the south legs of the intersection, with Ericson Place making up the other south leg. Middletown Road makes up the east leg and Westchester Avenue makes up the southwest and northeast legs of the intersection. Hutchinson River Parkway East is a one-way northbound roadway north of the intersection and one-way southbound roadway south of the intersection, with one travel lane and two parking lanes in each direction, with no sidewalks. Ericson Place is a one-way northbound roadway that terminates at the intersection, with one travel lane, two parking lanes and a sidewalk on the east side of the roadway, as seen in Figure Bx05-038-3. Middletown Road is a two-way east-west roadway on the east leg of the intersection only, with one travel lane and one parking lane in each direction and sidewalks on both sides of the roadway, as shown in Figure Bx038-4. Westchester Avenue is a two-way east-west roadway with two travel lanes in each direction. Both travel lanes are separated by columns that support the overhead NYC Transit line, with a sidewalk on the west side of the roadway, as shown in Figure Bx05-038-5.
